Nelsonville Trustee Watkins Attends Training Session
Nelsonville Village Trustee Gary Watkins attended a training workshop presented by The New York State Office of the State Comptroller. The workshop was held on October 7th at the Fishkill Town Hall, in Fishkill and was made available to municipalities from Dutchess and Putnam Counties. The workshop topics included: retirement reporting, the budget process, and what auditors look for in the minutes. The workshop also discussed the "Smart" (State Comptroller’s Municipal Advisory Review Team) and "Fast" (Fiscal Awareness Strategy Team) programs, which are programs municipalities can request assistance through from the state. Trustee Watkins reports that not only is the information received important at workshops like the one he attended but meeting other officials from other municipalities is also important.
