Holiday Auction Raises $14,000 For Mcquade Children’s Services
The annual Holiday Auction to Benefit McQuade Children’s Services was a resounding success, netting over $14,000 for the children’s treatment organization. Marc Stolfe auctioned off more than 100 gift packages, all of which were donated by local businesses, individuals and corporations.
Guests sipped fine wines and enjoyed hot hors d’oeuvres, desserts and gourmet coffee, compliments of area restaurants and caterers. The McQuade Percussion Ensemble, lead by vibrant performing arts instructor Judith Muldoon, performed a lively dance number during the auction preview. Auction attendees were captivated the array of auction packages including a New York City getaway featuring a night at the opera, a week’s stay at a time share in Orlando and a custom-designed dollhouse. Whether luxurious or practical - all of the packages were popular with the audience as they clamored to outbid each other.
"The auction is McQuade’s longest running event with 22 years of tradition behind it," said Judy Williams, director of marketing and community relations for McQuade. "I have been personally involved almost since its inception and I look forward to not only seeing the ‘regulars’ who flock to this event year after year, but also the new folks who have noted this jewel in their social calendars.’’
Proceeds from the auction directly benefit the more than 300 special needs children and their families served daily by McQuade. Fundraising efforts this year have resulted in the expansion and renovation of McQuade’s residential facilities. One of the boys’ residences can now accommodate an additional four youngsters and a new recreational room is being developed as well.
McQuade Children’s Services is an accredited, not-for-profit organization, headquartered in New York’s Hudson Valley, dedicated to providing Therapeutic Residential Care, Emergency Shelter Services, Special Education and Community Based Prevention Programs to special needs children and their families.
