The new website, which will advertise more than 40,000 available high-tech jobs, is the product of an ongoing partnership between Empire State Development (ESD), the State Department of Labor (DOL) and New York’s private sector business community.
"Our historic tax cuts and dramatically improved regulatory climate are leading more and more high-tech companies to invest and expand right here in New York," Governor Pataki said. "This new website will help New York-based companies attract and retain the skilled workforce they need, while also alerting talented young New Yorkers to the many exciting job opportunities available in the various high technology fields."
The dedicated website will provide a comprehensive list of available high-tech job opportunities, using a combination of job data from the Labor Department and new employment opportunities entered by participating private sector employers. The site will be updated on a daily basis, and will also provide links to corporate websites and websites maintained by municipal and industry-based economic development organizations.
ESD Chairman Charles A. Gargano said, "This website is part of our ongoing effort to tackle one of the biggest challenges facing today’s rapidly expanding high-tech companies meeting the workforce needs of the 21st, century. This campaign will help us send a clear and umnistakable message to the business community that New York State is committed to strengthening our leadership position in the field of high-technology commerce."
In addition, on Wednesday, November 29, the Department of Labor will conduct the first- ever statewide high-tech interactive job fair in 11 locations throughout the State.
