Health Department To Hold 1st Vaccine Clinic

The Putnam County Health Department and the Putnam County Office For Aging announce the first Influenza and Pneumonia vaccine clinic. It will be at the Donald Smith Campus off Route 6 between Carmel and Brewster on Thursday, December 7th from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. Please go to the Office For Aging and follow signs to the clinic site.

Due to the difficulty in manufacture of the vaccine this year, delivery of the vaccine has been very late. Future clinics will be announced as the vaccine becomes available. This year’s Influenza vaccine protects against 3 virus strains:

A/Moscow/10/99 (F13N2)-like

A/New Caledonia/20/99 (H1N1)-like

A/Beijing/184/93-like

Persons over 60 years of age should be immunized with flu vaccine each year. The Pneumonia vaccine needs to be received only once after the age of bS. It dyes not need to be repeated each year. For, more information, please call the Health Department at 278-6558 or the Office For Aging at 225-1034.
