Philipstown’s Emergency Service Personnel Collect Over $27K For Widows And Orphans Fund
 | | On Friday, September 14th, 13 members of the North Highlands Fire Dept. drove to the WTC and helped in support operations in the area known as ground zero. They were led by 1st Asst. Chief John Van Tassel, 2nd Asst. Chief Joseph Hyatt, and line officers Duane Sauve and Charles Nolen. Under their direction, William Allen, Nicholas Budney, Anthony Frisenda, Michael Hanna, Christopher Hyatt, Anthony Jones, Christopher Krajwoski, James Matero and Kristen Van Tassel. |

"Fill the Boot" Campaign exceeds expectations
Members of Philipstown’s emergency services units collected donations for their brothers and sisters in New York City over the weekend on Routes 9 and 9D. The North Highlands FD combined with the Cold Spring Fire and the Philipstown Ambulance Corps at the intersection of Main St. and Rt. 9D in the Village to collect donations. Volunteers were out on Saturday during the Chamber of Commerce’s Fall Festival which drew large crowds of visitors to the area.The Garrison Fire Department manned the intersection of Rt. 9 and Rt. 403 in Garrison. By Sunday evening volunteers had collected in excess of $27,645.
100% of the donations will be turned over to the NYC Emergency Services Widows and Orphans Funds.
Emergency service personnel wish to extend their appreciation to all the residents and tourists who visited the area Special thanks to Henry’s on the Hudson for donating lunch to the workers and to "Payning’s By Caryn" for donating all proceeds of handcrafted specialty gifts sold over the weekend.
