Talk of our Town
Things are beginning to take on a semblance of normalcy this week, the lights are back on at West Point. Everyone was distracted the past few weeks, but notice that the leaves are beginning to show their color - September is almost over! Life goes on.
On Saturday, the Annual Chamber of Commerce Fall Festival provided a welcome distraction from the events going on around us. There were plenty of people and vendors on Main Street in Cold Spring to satisfy everyone.
Our Emergency Service volunteers were also out over the weekend collecting donations for the Widows and Orphans fund. Apparently, everyone appreciates them a little more than they have shown in the past. Donations from all the department collections totaled over $27,000!! Lets keep it up.
The first of two Philipstown Town-Wide Clean ups will take place this weekend. Get to the N. Highlands FD with your stuff early to avoid the long lines that always form. (Remember, the County will be holding their hazardous waste clean-up day Oct. 20 for that stuff not suitable for the town cleanup)
This weekend we also have the Haldane PTA Fair on Saturday and the Annual Fall Luncheon and Auction at the Grace Methodist Church in Putnam Valley. Both are great fun events.
Birthdays this week include Thomas McGrath, Collin LeMon, Maryann Lombardo, Byron J. Brewer, Noah Gallagher, Nancy Brower and Anthony Dahlia, Jr. Congratulations to all.
Our congratulations to Kathryn and William Moss on the birth of their 17th (!!) grandchild. Wow!!
