Putnam County Housing Corp. Begins Homebuyers Seminar

The Putnam County Housing Corporation (PCHC) will begin a five-part Homebuyers Seminar, Monday, October 1, from 7:00pm to 8:30pm in the Community Room at 10 Gleneida Court, Carmel. The seminar will be held every two weeks through October and November.

Diane Mull of the Consumer Credit Counseling Service will conduct the first workshop, "Getting Financially Ready." She will cover the following topics: Personal Income and Expense Worksheet; Personal Budget Worksheet; a six-month budget plan; and Keys to Successful Budgeting.

The seminar is part of the PCHC’s First Home Club, which it administers in conjunction with the Mahopac National Bank and HSBC. The First Home Club provides income eligible, low and moderate income Putnam homebuyers with matching funds to be used for down payments and closing costs. Income eligibility is determined by household size and income. Eligibility guidelines for one and two person households are $42,880 and for three plus households, $49,312. For every $1 saved and deposited into a dedicated account under a systematic schedule of savings, the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York will match up to $3, not to exceed $5,000 in matching funds per household.

The monthly seminars are approximately one and a half hours long and all seminars will be lead by experts in their fields. Any homebuyer is eligible to attend the free seminars, but attendance is mandatory for First Home Club members. Attendance is limited. To register, please contact the PCHC at 845-225-8493 ext. 210, Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm.
