Outside Line Repairers Recruit Apprentices

The Northeastern Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for the Outside Electrical Industry will conduct recruitment for 20 electrical (outside) line worker apprentices from October 1 through March 31, State Labor Commissioner Linda Angello announced today.

Applications can be obtained by writing to the Northeastern Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee, 649 North Lewis Road, Suite 210, Limerick, PA 19468-1234, or online, at www.neatl968.org. The geographic jurisdiction of the NJATC includes all of New York State, excluding New York City.

The committee requires that applicants:

-Be at least 18 years old.

-Have a high school or general equivalency diploma.

-Take the NJATC aptitude test and achieve a minimum score of 3 out of 9.

- Pass a physical examination at the sponsor’s expense, after acceptance for the program.

For further information, applicants should contact the New York State Department of Labor office located nearest their home.

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
