Workshop On Tools For Coastal Watershed Management

Watersheds play an important role in the environmental and economic well being of all New York communities. Protecting watershed resources while maintaining a sustainable economic base and accommodating growth can be especially challenging for communities facing coastal and watershed management issues.

The Environmental Protection Agency along with the New York Aquarium is conducting to two day workshop about coastal watersheds to encourage comprehensive planning. The goal is to involve public and private interests to achieve a balance between quality development and resource protection. This workshop is designed for individuals who are interested or involved in water resource protection programs including: local officials and staff (planners, health officials and conservation officials); county, state, and federal government officials; nonprofit organizations concerned with natural resource management; local media; scientists interested in coastal watershed management options; and others involved in land and water resource management and protection.

To register or for more information please call the Aquarium at 718-265-3448 or fax your name, phone number and affiliation to Ellen Burros at 508-833-3150.

The Aquarium is located at West 8th Street and Surf Avenue in Coney Island. For directions, information on public events and programs, and other Aquarium information, please call 718-265-FISH or visit their web site at http://www.nyaquarium.com.
