Norman A. Tardiff To Speak At St. Mary’s On Oct. 2
The Women of St. Mary’s Church in the Highlands, Cold Spring, will meet in the parish hall on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 7:30pm for a business meeting. Immediately following at 8pm, a program "A Boatman’s View of the Hudson" will be presented by Mr. Norman A. Tardiff.
Mr. Tardiff was born in Massachusetts but spent most of his life in Connecticut. After receiving his Masters Degree at Brown University, he taught zoology at the University of Connecticut before spending four years in the military in the corps of Engineers where he rose to the rank of captain and had a company of men in Germany during the Battle of the Bulge.
When he returned home, he had a jewelry store in Wappingers Falls for thirty years. He has been a member of the Chelsea Yacht Club since 1968, and he has sailed extensively on the Hudson, the Sound, and Narragansett Bay. He has been historian for the Yacht Club for 12 years and is Chelsea historian also. At present he is working on a book extolling the history of the majestic Hudson. His program is unique and a great favorite with slides of towns along the Hudson.
All interested persons are cordially invited to attend. Dr. Noreen Van Valkenburg is chairman of the event.
