Haldane XC Prepares To Defend Title
The Haldane Girls Varsity Cross Country (XC) team, coached by former Manhattan College standout Martin Ludwikowski, has been practicing hard in preparation for the defense of the League title. Top returning runner is Margie Tomann who missed qualifying for the State meet by one place last year. The young team will also look to Senior Jen Neville, who qualified for last year’s State track championships, and Captain Katie Matero for leadership.
A trio of younger runners are expected to make an impact. Seventh grader Carly Filmanski and Eighth graders Miranda Neri and Victoria Moss insure that Haldane will have a strong base of runners for years to come. Natasha Bullard, Shanna Deegan, and Chloe Rice have all impressed Mr. "L" in early season workouts. Rebecca Crimmins, Casey Kohut, and Ann DiStefano round out the team and can be expected to be pushing for Varsity slots.
There will be no Boys Varsity team this year as there has been no turn out. Two strong Seventh graders have come out for the team and will be running Modified. A.J. McConnville and Billy Thom have been running hard every practice. Unfortunately, you need five runners to score as a team so unless they can encourage three of their classmates to come out this three will be running for individual honors only.
