Vinny Tamagna Announces Candidacy For 90th Assembly District
Vinny Tamagna, a resident of Putnam County and Putnam County Legislator from District 1, announces that he will seek the Republican nomination for the 90th Assembly District representing the Hudson River towns from Ossining to Cold Spring and the Towns of Kent and Putnam Valley in western Putnam. Legislator Tamagna will also seek the Conservative and Independent nominations from Westchester and Putnam Counties.
At a recent press conference Legislator Tamagna said, "We must carefully plan for the future of the Hudson Valley to protect and preserve one of the most beautiful places on Earth." He also added that his campaign "will present new ideas to address several issues, giving the voters a clear choice between a vision for leadership versus the status quo. I will suggest solutions to issues which have long been ignored in the area."
Legislator Tamagna outlined his aspirations and record of accomplishment with these five key themes:
1. "Responsible regional planning is vital to the long-term economic health of the Hudson Valley communities. Up and down the river, we must work together in a cooperative spirit with our mayors and town supervisors to be able to leverage all federal, state, and local resources. Our goal is to take inventory of our land uses and plan intelligent growth while preserving the character and appeal of our communities. We must balance local and regional needs with a blueprint that will guard property values, ensure adequate infrastructure to meet the community’s needs, and protect property rights.
2. "One common thread the district shares is the Hudson River. We must protect and utilize this natural resource for recreation, tourism, and transportation. Therefore, conservation and protection of our water, aquifers, and the river are crucial. Meanwhile, maintaining a safe water supply and planning for its future is vital to our health and our economic strength.
3. "A blueprint for energy is an issue that many elected officials would rather avoid; however, it is imperative that we plan for future energy needs in a way that is safe, reliable, and affordable. There is no room for propaganda and hysteria. We need facts and a balanced approach to resolving these vital issues. The current strategy for the Millennium Pipeline is flawed and the security for Indian Point is dismal, as is the controversy surrounding how adequate energy should be provided to the Hudson River Valley. These are two issues that demand strong leadership. We must apply science and common sense when it comes to planning our energy needs.
4. "Tax policies are necessary to make it more affordable to live in the Hudson Valley. As Putnam County legislator, I helped cut or maintain the same level of taxes for eight consecutive years.
5. "As we roll out a plan for the future, I will be speaking with the voters of the 90th Assembly District presenting my Vision for Leadership that includes blueprints for energy, conservation and protection of our natural resources, regional economic development for the Hudson Valley, and fiscal responsibility."
