Haldane Musicians Participate in NYSSMA Solo Festivals
Haldane Elementary, Junior High and High School students participated in the zone 10 New York State Music Association (NYSSMA) Solo Festivals held in Carmel and Wappinger Falls. The students prepared selected scales and an authorized solo. They also worked on their sight-reading and improvisational skills. The musicians were judged by certified NYSSMA adjudicators and were rated accordingly.
A rating of excellent was awarded to Adam Beard, Greg Casement, Jake Costigan, Carly Filmanski, Jennifer Larese. James Matero and Jason Neville. Outstanding ratings went to David Beard, Tom Costigan and Tyler Gibson. Charles Diamond earned a B- on his Level 5 Tenor Sax Classical Solo and an A- on his Level 5 Jazz Solo. Katie Matero earned a B+ rating on her All-State Trumpet Solo. Brandon Juby earned an A- on his All-State Jazz Solo. Special congratulations go to Sarah Costigan for a great first time effort.
