Literacy Volunteers Schedule Penny Social
Literacy Volunteers of Putnam has scheduled a Penny Social for Saturday, August 10 at Guideposts located on Seminary Hill Road in Carmel. The doors will open at 6 pm and the drawing of tickets will begin at 7 pm sharp. Desserts and summer beverages will also be on sale.
For 22 years, Literacy Volunteers of Putnam, a nonprofit organization, has been training tutors to work one-on-one with area residents to improve adult literacy in Putnam. There are currently 160 students involved in the Putnam County program.
All proceeds from the fundraiser will be used to support the organization’s two main programs: basic reading and English as a second language. For more information, call the Literacy Volunteers of America, Putnam Affiliate office at (845) 628-8139.
