Putnam Valley Republican Committee "Meet the Candidates" Brunch Draws Over 50 | | The PV Republican slate for the primary election in September are: (l-r) Earl Smith, Dan Ricci, Carmelo Santos, Robert Tendy and Randal Chiera. |

Putnam Valley’s Republican Committee Brunch was a great opportunity for residents of Putnam Valley to come out and meet the candidates on the Republican ticket for the coming Fall election. This was a particularly important event because of the upcoming Republican primary. More than 50 Putnam Valley Republicans had a chance to meet candidates and see where they stand, helping them make a more informed choice when it comes time to pull the lever in the September 9th primary. There was good food, fun, and of course, politics.
There to answer questions were the committee’s endorsed candidates: Carmelo Santos, running for re-election for town supervisor, Randall Chiera, candidate for Town Board, Dan Ricci and Robert Tendy, running for re-election to the Town Board, and Earl Smith, running for re-election as Highway Supervisor. Also in attendance was Marcy Scher, who did not receive the committee’s endorsement, but is challenging Mr. Ricci and Mr. Tendy for the Republican slot on the general election ballot. Absent was Mr. Fred Finger, who is likewise not endorsed by the Putnam Valley Republican Committee, and is challenging Mr. Chiera in the primary for the two-year town board term.
Prior to giving its endorsement, the Putnam Valley Republican Committee interviewed each person seeking it’s backing. After careful consideration of the skills, abilities and integrity of each one, the committee voted to select the candidates it was confident would best serve the interests of the people of Putnam Valley. The positive reactions of those in attendance, seems to indicated that the Republicans in Putnam Valley found the committee’s choices favorable. The real proof will be in the outcomes of the primary and general elections. The members of the committee hope that this event will make the people of Putnam Valley more aware of the political process and how vital each individual vote is.
