Major Drug Dealer Arrested in Mahopac
Putnam County Sheriff Smith has announced the arrest of a 19 year-old Peekskill man on drug trafficking charges. According to Sheriff Smith, Sean S. Jackson of Peekskill was arrested after members of the Sheriff’s Narcotics Enforcement Unit and the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), with the cooperation of the Putnam County District Attorney’s Office, conducted a two-month investigation.
The investigation began when the Narcotics Enforcement Unit received information that Jackson was a major supplier of high quality cocaine in the Mahopac area. Undercover officers were able to infiltrate his organization and began purchasing large quantities of the drug from him. During the course of the investigation, officers purchased approximately one half of a kilogram of cocaine, having an estimated street value of $200,000.
On Wednesday, August 6th, Mr. Jackson arranged to sell a pound of cocaine to undercover members of the Narcotics Enforcement Unit at the Mahopac Village Shopping Center located on Route 6. After the transaction took place, sheriff’s deputies and members of the Carmel Police Department sealed off the exits to the parking lot as officers from the Narcotics Enforcement Unit and DEA moved in and arrested Jackson without incident. Jackson was transported to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and was charged with 8 felony counts of violations of the drug codes.
Mr. Jackson was arraigned before Carmel Town Justice Joseph Spofford and remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility where he is being held without bail. He is due to appear in Carmel Court at a later date.
Sheriff Smith praised the work of the Narcotics Enforcement Unit, the United States Drug Enforcement Administration, the District Attorney’s Office, and the Carmel Police Department for their cooperation and professionalism in conducting this investigation and arrest. Sheriff Smith stated, "All law enforcement in Putnam County must continue to work together to keep the scourge of drugs out of Putnam County, especially away from our young people. This is a significant arrest. I hate to think of the damage that this drug dealer could have done with our young people in Putnam County. "
