Combined Local Baseball Team Drops 2 of 3
by Jay Neville
Last week the Putnam-Cortlandt-Philipstown baseball team played three games. On Friday the 30th the boys took on Patterson. Starting pitcher Rocco Appollonio combined with reliever Paul Richter to throw a solid game. However despite their efforts due to the lack of run support the team dropped the game 7-1.
The second game for the team was on Saturday the 31st versus Shrub Oak. Pitcher Mike O’Hamlon, with the aid of excellent team defense especially by Rocco Appollonio at third and Robby Ferrari in center field took command on the mound pitching a complete game. Also helping Mike was brother Martin O’Hamlon behind the plate calling an outstanding game. Both Paul Richter and Mike Impellittiere came through with big hits at key moments and the team came through with a thrilling 7-6 victory.
The next game took place on Sunday the 1st against and a strong Ossining team. Martin O’Hamlon had a good game on the mound and with the bat going 2 for 3 with a double and a run scored. The team as always gave 110 percent on the field, but ended up on the losing end 9-4.
For the upcoming week the team will play on Tuesday the 3rd at 6:00 at Mayor’s Park, on Wednesday the 4th at 6:00 at Putnam Valley, and on Friday the 5th at 6:00 again at Mayor’s Park. Come on out and give them your support.
