Explore the wonderful world of insects at the Museum of the Hudson Highlands during six weekly programs of "Entomology Explorations!" This program, for ages 13-14, will run on Tuesdays June 28th.
Take a closer look at the incredible world of insects – from butterflies to dragonflies and everything in between. Learn to identify insects, practice using insect terminology, and observe interesting differences in life cycles and feeding behaviors. Armed with entomology equipment, participants will find out which insects live underground, in the air, or underwater – and how they survive. Each session will be paced with lots of hands-on catching, observing, and studying of the six-legged creatures living all around us. One session will be spent at the Museum’s Boulevard location in Cornwall-on-Hudson and another will be a morning session observing the insects of Moodna Creek by canoe. All participants receive a Peterson Field Guide to Insects and a study magnification glass.
Session dates are June 28, July 5, 12, 19, 26 and August 2 and with the exception of July 19th, programs are held at Kenridge Farm, Route 9W, Cornwall from 1-2:30pm. The July 19th program will run from 9am -12:30pm and will meet at Kowawese Unique Area/Plum Point in New Windsor. Parents will receive maps and directions to field trip locations prior to date of trip.
Cost for Museum members is $115 and for Non-members $125 (materials included). Call 845-534-5506 ext 204 to register.
