Each year, thousands of hikers and naturalists descend upon the Cold Spring/Garrison area traversing the extensive network of hiking trails in search of spectacular vistas. But for those who like to blaze a more manicured path, the area offers a number of equally picturesque golfing options.

This year, Highlands Country Club, located off route 9D in Garrison is celebrating its 100th anniversary. Founded in 1886 by the late William Church Osborn, the HCC offers tennis and family activities, in addition to its 9 hole golf course with views of West Point. HCC members benefit from its proximity to renowned Xaviar’s Restaurant, which provides catering for members of HCC. On September 19th, the club will celebrate its Centennial with a Black Tie gala at Xaviar’s.

The golf course is open to the public during the week, providing no member tournaments or activities are taking place. For a truly indulgent holiday, reserve an early tee and make reservations for a four-star lunch at Xaviar’s; finish with a day of antiquing in Cold Spring!

Another beautifully maintained course can be found at the 18 hole Garrison Golf Club, located off Route 9. The Garrison Golf Club offers breathtaking views of the Hudson River Valley. It is open to the public daily and offers dining and catering facilities. Special attention is paid to group and business outings.

Just north of Cold Spring, also off Route 9, in the town of Fishkill, Fishkill Golf Course boasts a 30,000 square foot practice range, as well as a nine-hole executive course. In addition, lessons are available for individuals and groups every day and evening. Senior discounts are offered Monday through Friday.

Miniature golf enthusiasts can find their diversion at both Fishkill Golf Course and Papa John’s Restaurant. In addition to their delicious pizza and choice of Italian ices, Papa John’s, located on Route 9 in Cold Spring, has a lighted miniature golf course for play into the evening hours.
