Cold Spring Boat Club Welcomes Water-Borne Visitors

The Cold Spring Boat Club, a private organization located just south of the “Dock” in Cold Spring, welcomes boating visitors to the most scenic section of the Hudson River with 9 slips for boats up to 30' long available on a first come, first serve basis. Last year the club accommodated over 3000 visitors to the Village and surrounding area. This year the club has doubled the number of slips available, responding to the needs of the Hudson River boating community as more and more boaters discover Cold Spring and its quaint shops and excellent restaurants.

Boaters may tie up to the visiting boater slips anytime but must register with the Dock Master before leaving the club grounds. No fuel is available at the club.

The club also sports the only viable launching spot between Peekskill and Beacon available for motorized boats, and the club has instituted a “no charge” policy for Philipstown residents. They do ask that boaters obtain a permit from the club before launching.

The club advises boaters that the area just south of the club is very shallow with an abandoned dock just below the surface. Boaters are warned to take care when traversing this area. More information can be obtained at the club about this and other areas of concern to boaters.

Established in 1955 with some 85 "active" members and 35 "associate" members, residents of the Village of Cold Spring are eligible for membership in either category. Information on memberships can be obtained by calling (845) 265-2465.

There is fuel available at the Cornwall Boat Club on the west side of the river north of Cold Spring, opposite Bannerman's Island. (845) 534-8835.

The Garrison Boat Club, located a few miles south on the same side of the river is a private club and has no facilities other than dockage and moorings.

A non-motorized boat launching site is available next to the Cold Spring train station. Owned by Scenic Hudson, the area is available to all at no charge. Kyacks are available for rental at two locations on Main Street in Cold Spring.

Information on Tide conditions may be obtained at this link.
