Kees Kooper, Violinist, and Aaron Wunsch,
Pianist, in Chapel of Our Lady Restoration Concert
Kees Kooper, violinist, and Aaron Wunsch, pianist, will appear in the Chapel of Our Lady Restoration on
Sunday, May 18, at 4 o'clock. They will play a program of Dvorak, Franck and Handel, and admission is free.
Kees Kooper, whose sound is capable of transporting the most earth-bound among us, it has been said, is
former concertmaster of the Netherlands Philharmonic in his native Amsterdam. He is also a renowned soloist who
has played in many of the world's great concert halls to standing ovations and critical acclaim. Mr. Kooper, who
has performed in the chapel in several seasons, has published a number of articles and is currently writing a book
on Beethoven.
Aaron Wunsch appears regularly on concert stages throughout the United States, Europe and the Far East.
Praised for his bold interpretive skills and communicative sensitivity, he is equally at home in music from every
era, including his own transcriptions of Renaissance composer Palestrina, Baroque music on the harpsichord, and
world premieres of contemporary music. A native of Wisconsin, he received his bachelor's degree cum laude from
Yale University and was a Fulbright Scholar at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria. He is currently an adjunct
faculty member at The Juilliard School, where he is also completing his doctorate.
The chapel is located at 45 Market Street, Cold Spring, and free parking is available on weekends at the
adjacent Metro North Train Station. The music series is made possible, in part, with public funds from New York
State Council on the Arts Decentralization Program, administered in Putnam County by Putnam Arts Council.
Individual contributions are welcome.

Chapel Of Our Lady Restoration Breaks Ground for Chancery
Mayor Anthony Phillips and Board President Gail Greet Hannah (center) turned the first spade for the
Chapel of Our Lady Restoration's new Chancery building. They were joined by board members (from left to right)
Elizabeth Healy, Emerson Pugh, Carol Powell, Betty Green, Barbara Impellittiere, Elizabeth Grasso, Gayle
Watkins, Arthur Ross, Jennifer Sandlund, Janet Rust, Barbara DeSilva, Marcelline Thomson and William Kohler.
Members of the community attending the October 21 ceremony were treated to bagpipe music by Seth
Gallagher, champagne and refreshments, and a perfect Hudson Valley autumn day. In addition to private funds, the
building is made possible by grants from the New York State Council on the Arts and the Empire State
Development Corporation. The Chancery will provide restrooms and changing rooms for wedding parties and performing
artists, an office and archive. Designed by architect Peter Smith, it fulfills the vision of the restorers who rescued the
Chapel from abandonment 35 years ago.
The Chapel of Our Lady Restoration Awarded Second NYSCA Grant
The Chapel of Our Lady Restoration is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a grant of $12,000 by
the New York State Council on the Arts to fund the second phase of design for a Chancery Building on Chapel property.
The structure, which will be discreetly situated so as to retain the 1833 restored Chapel as the primary focus
of the site, will house a combination meeting room/office/archive, a dressing room for program participants
and wedding parties, and much-needed rest rooms. The design offers a comprehensive plan for the overall site
with improvements to pathways and out door public spaces. NYSCA previously awarded the Chapel $10,500 to
fund the initial design phase of the project.
The Chancery, designed by Newburgh architect Peter Smith, will enable the Chapel to better serve the
community by providing support facilities with improved access and amenities. The Board of the Chapel is grateful to
NYSCA for its financial support and its expression of confidence in the Chapel's mission for the future. Contributions to
the building fund from members of the community are welcome. Please call 265.5537 for details.
