We honor the life of Carl Stanley, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 7th, 2016, at 6:55am after a valiant struggle with brain cancer. Carl had moved to Wilmington, North Carolina to seek aggressive treatment options, but was a long time resident of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
Carl was born on April 30th,1959, in Detroit, Michigan. He was strong, smart, funny and easy to talk to. You might have heard Carl rolling up on his Harley Davidson motorcycle, ready to tell you all about the last bike rally he had been to. You might have been right behind Carl hiking through the beautiful serene nature of the Hudson Valley or Appalachian Trail. Maybe you joined him for a late-night stargazing, as Carl shared the latest theories on the universe and astrophysics. No matter how or when you knew him, Carl was always a natural leader and teacher to those around him.
Carl was an active duty veteran of United States Army and The National Guard who served during Desert Storm. He was a Teleport Engineer for Encompass Media in Connecticut, working on satellites and broadcasting equipment to help bring television into homes since 1989. He developed long standing relationships with many of his co-workers who considered him “a true friend who could always be counted on to be there when needed.”
Carl is survived by his mother Ruth Stanley, his daughter Delia Stanley, his son-in-law Michael Arrigo and ex-wife Marianne Davy, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. It was his wishes that his remains be cremated. Carl will be greatly missed. He is remembered with every hike, good conversation, TV broadcast and stargazing session had by his loved ones. Carl’s family is planning to travel to various states to visit friends and family and hold memorial events this summer.
