Michael Goldfarb died peacefully at home in Garrison, October 19, 2014, after a brief illness. Born May 18, 1941, in Manhattan to Dr. William Goldfarb and Frances Lyons Goldfarb, Michael graduated from Bronx High School of Science, NYU and Brown University. He taught philosophy at Brooklyn College before beginning a career in human services, ultimately serving as executive director of AHRC, New York City chapter from 1975 until his retirement in 2011. Michael was a passionate advocate on behalf of people with developmental disabilities and devoted his career to ensuring their rights and opportunities. A man of principle, humor, sensitivity and a big heart, he leaves a legacy of love and cherished memories for his wife of 46 years, Priscilla Stevens Goldfarb; sons Will Goldfarb (Maria), Ubud, Bali; Ben Goldfarb (Nora Whalen), Minneapolis, Minn.; Abe Goldfarb (Jennifer Sherrill), Brooklyn; grandchildren LouLou, Emilia, Oliver and Isaac; sister Deborah Reichert (Walter), Salt Lake City, UT, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, colleagues and friends.
