OBITUARIES

Concetta Toscano

Concetta Toscano, age 86, of Philipstown, died on Wednesday, April 26, 2000 at Hudson Valley Hospital Center in Cortlandt Manor.

Born in Capri Leone, Sicily, Italy on April 18, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Angela (Ricevuto) Anastasi.

Mrs. Toscano was a resident of Cold Spring for the past 47 years, coming from Italy. She had been the co-owner of Gino the Chef Restaurant in Cold Spring with her late husband.

She was predeceased by her husband, Gino Toscano. He died February 7, 1984. She is survived by one sister, Constanza Santro of Capri Leone, Sicily, Italy; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Toscano was predeceased by two brothers, Alfred and Joseph Anastasi.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, April 29, 2000 at Our Lady of Loretto Church in Cold Spring. Interment followed in Cold Spring Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Hospice of Northern Westchester and Putnam Counties, 100 South Bedford Rd., Mt. Kisco, NY 10549.

Rose M. Schisler

Rose M. Schisler, a former longtime Montrose resident, died at her residence in Chester, NY on April 29, 2000.

She was born in Peekskill on November 2, 1914 to Luigi Cava and Carmela Marino Cava. Rose was a home health care aide for New Putnam Home Care Council from 1982-1995. She was predeceased by her husband, Reuben E. Schisler in 1986 and her daughter, Rose Green, in 1994.

She is survived by her daugher, Maria Schisler of Chester, NY and her brother, Frank Cava of Ft. Pierce, FL. Also surviving are four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Interment was in Cold Spring Cemetery, under the direction of the Edward F. Carter Funeral Home, Montrose.

Joseph F. DeGelormo

Joseph F. DeGelormo of Fishkill, N.Y. formerly of Cold Spring, N.Y. passed away Thursday April 27, 2000.

He was born February 23, 1936 and married Anita Waldron on June 30, 1954. He was an Engineering Technician for IBM Corporation for 25 years and retired in 1992. He was a founding member of the North Highlands Engine Co. #1, holding several offices over the years.

Joseph is survived by his wife of 46 years, Anita; son Gene and his wife Debra; daughter Lori and husband Denis; daughter Lisa and husband Julio; seven grandchildren, Leslie, Shane, Lance, Garet, Allysa, Logan, Matthew and his wife Holli. He is also survived by three brothers and 2 sisters: Anthony, Mary, James, Julia and Raymond. Joseph was predeceased by parents Gabriel and Elena and sister Yolonda.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 8th at Our Lady of Loretto Church at 11:00am. Interment will take place at Cold Spring Cemetery following the Memorial Service.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent to the American Heart Association.

Nathalie Osborn Murphy

A memorial service will be held for Nathalie Osborn Murphy on Saturday, May 6th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Philip’s Church on Route 9D in Garrison, followed by interment in the Church Yard and a Tea in the Parish House.

Nathalie was a long-time resident of Garrison, who was born in New York City on November 9th, 1915, the daughter of Fairfield and Marjorie Osborn. She spent much of her childhood living in her parents’ home, known as Wing and Wing in Garrison, and with her grandparents, Henry Fairfield and Lucretia Osborn, in her grandparents’ home, now known as the Osborn Castle in Garrison.

She returned to Garrison in 1980 to care for her mother, and lived there until 1997. While living in Garrison, Nathalie was a parishioner of St. Philip’s Church, volunteer with the Philipstown Garden Club and Stonecrop Gardens, and membership secretary of the Putnam Highlands Audubon Society.

Her last three years were spent at Kendal, an assisted living residence run by the Society of Friends (Quakers) in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania.

Nathalie died on April 11, 2000, of heart failure. Her life is celebrated and her loss mourned by her children, Jennifer Murphy of Norwalk, Connecticut; Shaun Murphy of West Brattleboro, Vermont, and Robin Whyatt of Garrison; by her grandchildren, Loren and Clay Murphy and Erin and Matthew Whyatt; by her sister, Joan Roth of Princeton, New Jersey; and by her many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Nathalie’s memory may be sent to Putnam Highlands Audubon, care of Zshawn Sullivan, 8 Hudson River Lane, Garrison, NY 10524.

Rose Marie DeLuccia

Rose Marie DeLuccia, age 96, of Florida, died April 30, 2000 at her residence.

Born in Paterson, NJ on April 3, 1904. She had lived in Cold Spring and Exeter, NH, and moved to Florida 16 years ago. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a son, Nicholas DeLuccia of Indialantic, FL; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Cremation was private. There will be a memorial service held in Cold Spring at a later date.

Anne Marshall Wevling

Anne Marshall Wevling, age 72, of Boynton Beach, FL and formerly of Garrison, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2000.

Mrs. Wevling was the beloved wife of Ivar Paul Wevling, who passed away April 11, 2000.

She is survived by her daughter, Ann Stevenson of Beverly, MA and North Berwick, ME; grandson David Stevenson of Louisville, KY; granddaughter Jane Stevenson of Arlington, MA; brother William Marshall of Vancouver, B.C. and sister Helena Coventry of Glasgow, Scotland.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Wevling was preceded in death by her son Stuart in 1966 and her daughter Ruth Anderson in 1991.

Private burial services for Anne and her husband Ivar will take place in Cold Spring at a later date. The family suggests memorial contributions to Hospice By The Sea, 1531 W. Palmetto Park Road, Boca Raton, FL 33486.
