All Quiet In Cold Spring At Board Of Trustees Monthly Meeting
With Mayor Phillips absent and no major issues before them, the Cold Spring Board of Trustees presided over a quiet and uneventful monthly meeting on August 8.
After a brief public hearing, the Board of Trustees passed a local law electing a retirement incentive program, as authorized by the State of New York. Trustee Edward Mancari called the law "a win-win situation for the employees and the employers," adding that while the incentive will cost the Village slightly more in retirement benefits for employees who elect to participate, the Village will be able to hire people at lower salary rates to replace those departing. Mancari noted that workers would have to be at least 50 years old and have at least ten years credited in the retirement system, or be 55 years old with five years credited, in order to qualify for the incentive. He added that out of five eligible Village employees, two had expressed interest in the program. Full Story
Hudson Valley Hospital Center Proposes Senior Housing At Butterfield Hospital Site
After several years of unsuccessful attempts to find a tenant for the long-vacant Butterfield Hospital in Cold Spring, the Hudson Valley Hospital Center (HVHC) is proposing a partnership with New York City-based Savoy Senior Housing Corp. to convert and expand the hospital building into 128 units of senior citizen housing. Final Piece Of The Route 301 Reconstruction Puzzle Installed
The last piece of the puzzle of the $5.5 million Main Street reconstruction project in Cold Spring/Nelsonville was put into place this past week as construction workers installed a box culvert extension at the Foundry Brook crossing in Nelsonville. Full Story
