Two Significant Proposals Haven’t Had Much Discussion Dear Editor: Over the past several weeks, 2 locally significant proposals have surfaced without much local input in my opinion:
1- The Pedestrian Tunnel: Presently this is an eyesore and most people want to get through it as quickly as possible - except maybe on a sweltering day when it is cool. Around the world there are tunnels that have been humanized, made beautiful and are fun experiences. My suggestion is for the Village or MTA to hold a national competition for making the tunnel a beautiful experience and a new asset to the community. A local group, the American Institute of Architects, or the Museum of Modern Art are possible judging organizations.
