Driver Falls Asleep And Veers Off Route 9
On October 22, Garrison Volunteer Fire Company responded to a report of a personal injury auto accident, just south of Route 9 and Snake Hill Road. A vehicle, operated by Edward Keon, age 72, was traveling southbound when the driver stated he must have fallen asleep. The car went off the road, through a wood fence, and struck a tree. Both the driver and his wife, Carmela, of Cortlandt Manor, had to be extricated from the vehicle by the fire department. Garrison Volunteer Ambulance transported the couple to Hudson Valley Hospital. Mr. Keon was treated for head injuries and Mrs. Keon was treated for a possible broken back. Route 9 was closed for approximately 30 minutes.
