Putnam County To Observe World AIDS Day
The thirteenth annual World AIDS Day observance will be held in Putnam County on Thursday, November 30, 2000. World AIDS Day aims to increase awareness of the magnitude of the HIV/AIDS epidemic globally and as well as in the United States. A candlelight vigil will be held at the first Presbyterian Church in Mahopac at 7:00 p.m., coordinated by the Putnam AIDS Task Force. This event is a time to pause in remembrance of those lost to AIDS and to renew the commitment to fight on behalf of those living with the disease. There will be guest speakers, including County Executive Robert Bondi, and refreshments will be served following the program. This event is open to the public.
