Cops Unite To Promote Safe And Happy Holidays
Superintendent of State Police James W. McMahon has announced the start of a 10-day, zero tolerance safety restraint enforcement blitz by police officers statewide, between November 17 - 26.. He was joined by Joseph S. Dominelli, Executive Director of the New York State Association of Chiefs of Police, and Peter Kehoe, Executive Director of the New York State Sheriffs Association, in announcing the cooperative law enforcement effort. The enforcement wave is part of the ongoing Buckle Up New York Campaign, and was deliberately scheduled to save lives and prevent injuries by buckling up motorists during the traditional Holiday Season, which begins Thanksgiving Day. It is also part of a national law enforcement mobilization to safeguard kids called "Operation ABC, America Buckles up Children." More than 400 police agencies statewide, and 8,000 nationally, are joining forces in the effort.
