Rachel Callahan

Rachel Callahan, a Province-town native and former Cold Spring resident, died Tuesday, February 20, 2001 at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis after an illness. She was 82.

Born and raised in Provincetown, she graduated from Yonkers High School, Yonkers, NY in 1936. She earned a Bachelor’s degree at Framingham State Teachers College in 1940 and a Master’s degree in education from Columbia University in 1943.

Miss Callahan taught high school home economics in Cold Spring for more than 30 years.

She shared summer vacations enjoying travel to many countries of the world and residing at her summer home in Provincetown, MA.

Upon retirement, she moved back to Provincetown.

She was an avid reader and also enjoyed world travel, visiting countries in Europe and Asia.

She is survived by several cousins.

A funeral service was held at St. Mary of the Harbor Episcopal Church in Provincetown. Burial is in Provincetown Cemetery.
