New PV Consumer Protection Law A Victory For Victims
At a public hearing and special Town Board meeting on Wednesday, March 14, the Putnam Valley Town Board adopted Local Law #1-2001. The local law amends the existing Building and Zoning regulations to require a performance bond in the amount of $50,000 be posted by the contractor for the construction of a new single family home being built by someone other than the property owner or homeowner. The contractor must also be registered and licensed by the County. The new law also increases the bond for renovation work from $5,000 to $25,000.
