Julia Johnson

Julia Johnson, age 86, of Cold Spring died on Saturday, August 4, 2001 at St Luke’s Hospital in Newburgh, NY.

Born in Verplanck, NY on March 4, 1915, she was the daughter of the Late Clarence and Elizabeth Volkman Bleakley. Mrs Johnson worked for Aviator Rubber Co. in Beacon. She was a lifetime member of the Cold Spring Boat Club Ladies Auxiliary.

On July 10, 1934 at the Montrose Dutch Reformed Church, Montrose she married Edward Johnson who died October 12, 1997.

She is survived by two sons, Robert and his wife Gayle of Garrison, and Richard and his wife Janice of Beacon. Survivors also include a brother, Russell Bleakley of Lake Secore, 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sons, C. Edward, John and James Johnson.

Services were held on Wednesday Aug. 8, 2001 at the Clinton Funeral Home, Cold Spring, with the Reverend Sandra Mantz officiating.

Burial followed in the Cold Spring Cemetery.
