NYC DEP Agrees To Plead To Two Violations Of Federal Environmental Laws
The New York City Department of Environmental Protection ("DEP") announced August 24th that an investigation begun almost three years ago by the office of the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York has been concluded. DEP has agreed to plead to two violations of federal environmental laws in relation to facilities in its water supply system and pay a $50,000 fine. The violations involved contaminants found in equipment, which had been installed in the 1940s, and in the facilities that housed them.
