Watershed Restrictions Following Terrorist Attacks Watershed Agreement due for 5-year review
There will be no hiking, fishing, hunting or recreation of any kind on any of the lands comprising the New York City Watershed for the foreseeable future. These restrictions were announced at the October 2 County Legislature meeting by William Harding, Executive Director of the Watershed Protective Partnership Council (WPPC). This course of action was taken as a result of the terrorist attack on September 11, and the ensuing concern that New York City drinking water could be the target of additional terrorist attacks.
