Arnold’s Flight Historical Marker Newly Installed On Route 9D
Recently a jubilant group met at the home of Putnam County Historical Society & Foundry School Museum trustee, John P. Dugan, to unveil the long-awaited replacement of the Benedict Arnold historical marker. The spot where Arnold--his treason fortuitously discovered--crosses what is now Route 9D in Garrison, was first identified by a state historical marker in 1934. Unfortunately, over the years, this marker has been the victim of vandalism and theft, and last spring it disappeared once again. Full Story

County Establishes Bureau Of Emergency Services Legislature revisits County salary increases
Last Tuesday, November 7, the Putnam County Legislature added a chapter to the County charter that officially established the Bureau of Emergency Services, by creating a position entitled "Commissioner of the Bureau of Emergency Services." The purpose of this body is to "insure proper emergency response to all natural and man-made emergencies including those of enemy attacks and acts of terrorism." Full Story
