Arnold’s Flight Historical Marker Newly Installed On Route 9D
Recently a jubilant group met at the home of Putnam County Historical Society & Foundry School Museum trustee, John P. Dugan, to unveil the long-awaited replacement of the Benedict Arnold historical marker. The spot where Arnold--his treason fortuitously discovered--crosses what is now Route 9D in Garrison, was first identified by a state historical marker in 1934. Unfortunately, over the years, this marker has been the victim of vandalism and theft, and last spring it disappeared once again.
