Seaman Apprentice Kevin Watkins Completes Coast Guard Basic Training


Gary and Patricia Watkins of Nelsonville are proud to announce that their son, Seaman Apprentice Kevin Watkins has successfully completed eight weeks of basic training at the Coast Guard Training facility located at Cape May, New Jersey. Seaman Apprentice Watkins graduated basic training on Friday, November 2nd, his parents, brother, grandparents and friends attended the military ceremony.

Cape May is a training center for new Coast Guard recruits, while there Seaman Apprentice Watkins was a member of company Quebec 160. Training consisted of physical conditioning, classroom instruction and work duties preparing him for his Coast Guard career. Seaman Apprentice Watkins during his training received marksmanship status.

Kevin is a recent graduate of Haldane High School, the Class of 2001. After graduating on Friday, Seaman Apprentice Watkins will be spending some time with his family before shipping out to his assignment at a Coast Guard station located in Panama City, Florida. Kevin’s brother Gary Jr. is in the United States Airforce assigned to Hurlburt field Airforce Base, Florida.
