Jean Stanton Duffy

Jean Stanton Duffy, age 79, of Newport, NH died on January 9, 2002 at New London Hospital. Born on June 11, 1922 in Cleveland, Ohio, she was the daughter of the Late James Stanton, Sr. and Florence (Vickery) Stanton. Mrs. Duffy graduated from Youngstown College. A former teacher, she moved to New York State upon her marriage to the Late Thomas S. Duffy.

Mrs. Duffy was a former resident of White Plains, Waccabuc, and Cold Spring.

After raising her family, she started a second career in 1981 working with her husband as a real estate title examiner. Retiring in June 2000, she relocated to New Hampshire.

She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, the NY Yankees, playing cards, but most importantly, her family.

In addition to her sister Wilda (Bill) Martin of Jacksonville Beach, Florida, her family includes three daughters, Patricia Decoteau of Manchester, NH, Susanne Greenbaum of New London, NH and Megan Duffy Knight of Danbury, CT four sons Thomas Duffy, Jr. of Portsmouth, NH, Richard Duffy of Bedford, NH, John Duffy of Hawthorne, NY, and Brendan Duffy of Bedford, NH, two nieces and a nephew. She was the loving grandmother to 10 very special grandchildren

A mass of Christian burial was offered at Our Lady of Loretto Church on January 12, 2002. Interment followed in the family plot in Gate of Heaven cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to a children’s charity of you choice. Arrangements are under the direction of The Clinton Funeral Home cor. of Parrott & Pine Sts., Cold Spring, NY.
