New York Aquarium Offers Class On Wetland Law & Ecology
The New York Aquarium recently received a $15,000 grant from the Environmental Protection Agency to conduct "Project POWER" (Protect Our Wetlands with Educators & Regulators), a community-based education course on wetland law and ecology, which will take place in all five boroughs. In New York, the application of wetland regulations has increased, though activities associated with enforcement revealed a lack of knowledge of the law and wetland ecology by the general public. Often, citizens are unfamiliar with the regulations that apply to the use of their land and, unwittingly, find themselves in violation of wetland laws.
