Anthony Amato, age 92, of Cold Spring, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2002 at the Field Home Holy Comforter, Yorktown Heights, NY.
Born February 17, 1910 in the Bronx, Mr. Amato was the son of the late Albert and Mary (Vafso) Amato. He is survived by 2 sisters, Rose Salvas of Florida and Adeline Metta of Connecticut and one brother, Edward Amato of Cold Spring. Anthony will be loved and missed by his entire family, including numerous nieces and nephews, of whom he considered his children and grand children.
Mr. Amato was a lifetime member of the Cold Spring Fire Company and was a past Chief of the Department. He was a decorated US Army veteran serving from 1942 to 1945.
Mr. Amato was a foreman for Amato Builders in Cold Spring for over 50 years. He was also a bus driver for the Haldane School District.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, June 22 at Our Lady of Loretto Church in Cold Spring. Internment will follow in the Cold Spring Cemetery.
Arrangements were made by the Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home in Fishkill, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cold Spring Fire Company.
