July 27th Town Day: A Celebration Of Life In Putnam Valley
Once a year, the volunteers of Putnam Valley invite residents to join in a celebration of the Town
There were several previous attempts at initiating a Putnam Valley Town Day tradition. In 1976, there was a Bicentennial Town Day, and a welcome home Gulf War Troops Town Day was held in the 90s. Unfortunately, there were never enough people available to make it an annual event. Full Story
Governor Announces Expansion Of Hudson Highlands State Park 240 acres to increase access to the Hudson River, provide scenic overlook
Governor Pataki has announced the acquisition of more than 240 acres in Westchester and Putnam to expand Hudson Highlands State Park and increase public access to the Hudson River. The project includes the purchase of 91 acres and the transfer of 150 acres of Camp Smith, a military training facility, from the State Division of Military and Naval Affairs (DMNA) to the State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP).
