Milda (Wiggin) Collman

Milda Collman, 79, beloved mother to four and grandmother to ten, died at home on October 5, 2002.

Mrs. Collman grew up on a farm in Latvia with her parents and brother. The horrors of World War II forced her to flee her childhood home alone. She survived the bombing of Dresden and emigrated in 1950 to the United States.

Mrs. Collman graduated from the Chicago School of Dental Nursing and enjoyed her work as a dental assistant.

Mrs. Collman married in 1954 and raised four sons. She nurtured positive values in her children - always emphasizing family, education and spirituality. She encouraged the study of music and never missed an opportunity to hear her boys perform.

Mrs. Collman moved her family to the Hudson Valley in 1968. She loved the peacefulness of nature and remained here for 34 years.

She married again in 1984 to Frank Collman. She provided care for him through a long illness until his passing in 1995.

Mrs. Collman is survived by: Robert (and Bernadette) Wiggin of Poughkeepsie, NY; David (and Jean) Wiggin and their five children, Heather, Timothy, Rachel, Katherine, and Heidi of Ann Arbor, MI; Paul (and Lisa) Wiggin and their four boys, Peter, Andrew, Nathan, and Thomas of Hinsdale, IL; Steven (and Sheila) Wiggin and their daughter Ashley. Her great love for her family will always be remembered.

Visitation hours will be 4 to 7 pm, Thursday, October 10 at the Straub Funeral Home, 55 E. Main St., Wappingers Falls, NY. Funeral services at Wappingers Rural Cemetery will be private.
