Edna E. Purdy

Edna E. Purdy, a life long area resident, died on Thursday January 16, 2003 at Putnam Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kent, NY. Born in Cold Spring on August 15, 1910 she was the daughter of the Late Edward and Etta (Purdy) Collard. She was the widow of the Late Eugene Purdy who pre-deceased her on March 13, 1982. She was also pre-deceased by a daughter, Beverly Proctor and a grandson, Paul DiGiaimo.

Mrs. Purdy was a retired Senior Clerk for IBM in Poughkeepsie. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Cold Spring where she was a member of the choir for many years. A member of the Order of the Eastern Star Rebecca Lodge, and a former deputy town clerk for the Town of Philipstown.

Survivors include two sons Edward E. Purdy of Flat Rock, NC and Richard L. Purdy of Millbrook. One daughter Jean DiGiaimo of Fishkill. Eight Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren and one Great Great Grandchild, also survive. Two sisters Helen Goldstein and Dorothy Horne and one Grandson Paul DiGiaimo pre-deceased her.

Private cremation will take place at Ferncliff crematory in Hartsdale. Plans for a memorial service will be announced at a latter date. Contributions in Mrs. Purdy’s memory may be made to the United Methodist church of Cold Spring Main St. Cold Spring, NY 10516.
