Robert R. Colbert
Robert R. Colbert, Jr. age 68 of Cold Spring, NY died on Friday, January 31, 2003 at Hudson Valley Hospital in Cortlant Manor, NY.
Born in Nelsonville, NY on January 16, 1935 he was the son of the late Robert R. and Berta (Monroe) Colbert, Sr.
Mr. Colbert was a retired Foreman and had been the acting Superintendent of Highways for the town of Philipstown for over 35 years. He worked at Haldane School as a bus driver. A U.S. Army veteran serving from 1956-58, he held the rank of sergeant in the military police, receiving a good conduct medal. He had been a lifetime Cold Spring-Nelsonville are resident. A member and former Vice President and Chief of the former Nelsonville Fire Co., Mr. Colbert was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing. He was also a member of the Men’s Fishkill Bowling League for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Marynorma A.Fazzari-Sakala-Colbert of the home address. Also surviving are: three step-daughters, Monique, Marcie and Marcella Sakala, all of Cold Spring; one brother, Francis W. Colbert, of Nelsonville, NY; one sister, Elizabeth A. Norton of Nelsonville, NY; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition, he is survived by a Father-in-law, James V. Fazzari, Sr., and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. James Fazzari, Jr., all of Pennsylvania. Mr. Colbert was predeceased by his first wife, Joan Roberta (Lyons) Colbert who died in 1987.
A funeral service was held at St. Mary’s Church in the Highlands on Tuesday, February 4, 2003 at 10 am. Interment followed in Cold Spring Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Clinton Funeral Home of Cold Spring.
