William F. Wirz

William F. Wirz, 86, of 40 Bullock Circle, Carlisle, PA, died Thursday, February 27, 2003 at Cumberland Crossings Retirement Community. Born on October 15, 1916 in New York City, NY, he was the son of the late William and Anna Mae Swan Wirz.

Mr. Wirz was a graduate of Sewanaka High School, Floral Park, LI, NY and was also a graduate of New York University with a B.S. Degree. He was retired from Mobil Oil Company as a career development advisor with 40 years of service. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Carlisle where he was an ordained Deacon and Elder of the church. Also, he was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church of Philipstown, Cold Spring. Mr. Wirz was on the board of trustees and past president of Julia Butterfield Hospital and was also a volunteer for Boy Scouts in Cold Spring. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II.

Surviving are his wife, Lois J. Pape Wirz of Carlisle, PA; a daughter, Jean A. Duncan of Garrison, NY and a son, William D. Wirz, Danbury, CT; and five grandchildren.

Services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, 219 North Hanover St., Carlisle, PA, is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
