New Yorkers Can Now Renew Driver’s License Online
Eligible New York drivers can now renew their driver’s license by visiting the New York State Department of Motor Vehicle’s internet website at www.nysdmv.com.
"This new online initiative reflects our unwavering commitment to making State government more accessible for all New Yorkers," Governor Pataki said. "New Yorkers can already renew their car registration and other license documents online. And now, eligible drivers can renew their driver’s license right from the comfort of their own home or office."
"Our new driver’s license online renewal initiative will be on display at the Great New York State Fair throughout the 12-day event, and I encourage New Yorkers to stop by our DMV booth and learn more about how it works," Governor Pataki said.
The DMV’s new online driver’s license renewal transaction is expected to quickly become one of the most popular transactions on the DMV website, allowing motorists to renew their driver’s license from their own home or office, without having to wait in line. A completed eye test report from an authorized health services provider is necessary to complete the transaction.
New York State Department of Motor Vehicles Commissioner Raymond P. Martinez said, "Last year the DMV website attracted over 6 million customers downloading more than 3.7 million DMV forms, saving hundreds of thousands of trips to local DMV offices. We continue to add new transactions throughout the year, so be sure to Skip the Trip and visit the DMV 24-hour online office or visit our booth at the State Fair for many of your Motor Vehicle needs.
