Southeast Theft Solved With Arrest of Lake Carmel Man

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Lake Carmel man in connection with a theft committed a month ago in Southeast. Mr. Justin P. Shinkaroff, aged 20, of Lake Carmel, was arrested on December 3 after he surrendered himself at the Sheriff’s Department.

Mr. Shinkaroff is charged with the November 1st theft of automotive parts, which he allegedly removed from a car parked in the side yard of a home on Old Route 6 in Southeast. The stolen parts were later recovered.

Sheriff’s Investigator Michael F. Corrigan handled the case and developed Mr. Shinkaroff as a suspect. Investigator Corrigan arrested him on a charge of Petit Larceny, a class A misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail or a fine not to exceed $1,000 or both. The defendant was booked and released on his own recognizance pending a December 23rd court appearance in the Town of Southeast Justice Court.
