Donations Needed for Science & Technology Fair

The 11th annual Tri-County Science and Technology Fair will be held on Saturday, April 17 at The Harvey School in Katonah.

The Putnam Children’s Discovery Center, located at 99 Towners Road in Kent Lakes, is organizing the event, which is open to public and private school first-place winners from Westchester, Putnam and Rockland counties. Pre-registration is necessary to participate in the fair.

Since its inception in 1993, the Tri-County Fair has grown in size from 60 displays to over 250 of the best exhibits from students in the region. This year, exhibits will conveniently be housed in The Harvey School’s Carter Hall complex. The Harvey School is conveniently located off Exit 6 on Interstate 684.

In the past, both private and public donors have funded the fair. Over the past few years, corporate support has come from companies such as Praxair, Phillips Research, Gannett, Texaco, CIBA, Positive Mortgage, Industrial Theatre, Consumers Union, Malcolm Pirnie, and the Science Teachers’ Association of New York State, Westchester Chapter. Donations can be sent to: Putnam Children’s Discovery Center (PCDC), P.O. Box 222, Carmel, NY 10512. Contributions to the PCDC are tax deductible.

The names of sponsors will be included in a brochure, available upon entering the fair on April 17. Corporations or individuals making donations of $1,000 or more will be featured on the front cover, and banners bearing their names will be on display.

Schools interested in participating should contact Janice Newman at JNewman@DiscoveryCtr.org or by calling 845-225-0105 ext. 201. To learn more about the fair, please go to the Discovery Center website at www.DiscoveryCtr.org or call 845-225-0105 ext. 201.
