Joan Lahey, age 72, a lifetime Cold Spring resident died on Tuesday February 10, 2004 at Hudson Valley Hospital Center. Born in Cold Spring on October 3, 1931, she is the daughter of Mary (Ballo) Matthews of Cold Spring and the late Edward G. Matthews.
Mrs. Lahey was a homemaker and former secretary for Bill Browns Health Farm in Garrison as a young woman. She was a graduate of Haldane High School class of 1949.
In addition to her mother, Mrs. Lahey is survived by her husband Francis "Terry" Lahey of Cold Spring; nine children, Terrence Lahey of Verbank, NY; F. Patrick Lahey of Beacon, NY; Kevin M. Lahey of Garrison, NY; Kathleen Lahey Percacciolo of Garrison, NY; Bridget Lahey Immorlica of Newburgh, NY; Joseph M. Lahey of London, England; Eileen Lahey Dahlia of Cold Spring, NY; Joanne Lahey Percacciolo of Cold Spring, NY; and Matthew E. Lahey of Cold Spring, NY; one brother, Thomas E. Matthews of Tolland, CT; and one sister, Suzanne Samuelson of Annapolis, MD. Nineteen grandchildren also survive. She was predeceased by one brother, Robert J. Matthews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Friday, February 13th at Our Lady of Loretto Church, Cold Spring. Interment followed in the Cold Spring Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made in Mrs. Lahey’s name to The American Diabetes Association, 1701 No. Beaurgard Street, Alexandria, VA 22311.
