Ernest L. Waivada
Ernest L. Waivada, 78, of Garrison, NY, died on Thursday, May 27, 2004. He had a strong will to live and the tenacity to overcome numerous life-threatening illnesses.
Ern was born in Worchester, MA. Following service in the US Army in the occupation of Germany, he attended the Art Center of Pasadena. As a graphic designer, he began his career at Look magazine. Following his post as Creative Director for Fred Wittner Advertising, he started his own design firm, Ern Waivada Business Graphics.
He was a creative and intelligent man, who loved his home in the Hudson Highlands. His interests were unique, including a love of boating, restoring and using his antique Gravely tractors, and rebuilding his 1962 Willys Jeep. He will be missed by Teri, his wife of 45 years; daughters Susan of San Francisco and Amy Lahey of Garrison; son-in-law Kevin Lahey and grandchildren Lukas and Kate Lahey.
The family chooses to remember him privately. In his memory, friends and neighbors can plant a tree or contribute to their charity of choice.
