Counterfeiting Operation Busted at Stormville Flea Market
$125,000 in merchandise was confiscated
The New York State Police at Stormville, in a joint investigation with representatives from Counter-Tech Investigations, Recording Industry Associations of America, GAP and Major League Baseball Enterprises, conducted a Trademark Counterfeiting Operation on July 3rd at the Stormville Flea Market located on State Route 216 in the Town of East Fishkill in Dutchess County.
Eleven individuals were arrested as a result of this investigation and charged with Trademark Counterfeiting in the Second Degree, a Class E Felony. Those arrested came from as far away as East Stroudsburg, PA and were as local as Richard H. Chester of Cold Spring
Two of those arrested were additionally charged with Failure to Disclose the Origin of a Recording in the Second Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor, after being in possession of numerous counterfeit compact discs of various recording artists.
All of the individuals arrested except one, were issued Appearance Tickets to appear in the Town of East Fishkill Justice Court. Lian Qin Xu of Flushing was arraigned in the Town of East Fishkill Justice Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lien of bond. Merchandise seized during the operation consisted of T-shirts, compact discs, cassette tapes, baseball hats and jewelry from name brand companies such as the New York Yankees, Orange County Choppers, Oakley, Fendi, Louis Vuitton, Coach, Tiffany & Company, Fox Racing, Sean John, Von Dutch and Nike. The merchandise had a total estimated value of $125,000.
